Associate Director

Connie Wilkinson is an Associate Director in Services for Students with Disabilities. Her primary responsibilities include coordinating accommodation services for deaf and hard of hearing students and managing administrative/budgeting functions within the department. Connie also provides both sign language interpreting and C-Print speech-to-text captioning services for deaf and hard of hearing students.

Connie earned an M.A. in Education (Educational Leadership and Policy Studies) from Virginia Tech. She received her sign language interpreting training through New River Community College and holds the Certificate of Transliteration national certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf. Connie received her training in C-Print speech-to-text captioning services through the National Technical Institute for the Deaf. Prior to coming to Virginia Tech, Connie's professional experiences include work in the social services field and sign language interpreting at the secondary and post-secondary levels. Her memberships in professional organizations include the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (national and Virginia), the Association on Higher Education and Disability (national and Virginia), the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, and the Speech-to-Text Services Network.
