Deborah Smith, MS, LPC, serves as an Academic Coach/Counselor in the Services for Students with Disabilities office. Her primary responsibilities focus on weekly individual and group coaching sessions with students to address academic skill and learning issues in order to improve students' academic, social, and general functioning.

Ms. Smith received her Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Radford University. She served as a counselor in the Counseling Center at Radford University before joining the community mental health system in Roanoke, Virginia. After becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor, she joined a private practice in Roanoke. Ms. Smith has extensive experience working in a variety of capacities while in private practice, including testing and evaluation, direct clinical services, and consultant to local human service agencies. In addition to licensure as a Professional Counselor, she is a member of the National Board of Certified Counselors and a fellow of the American Board of Forensic Counselors.
