Senior Interpreter
Jim began his career as a sign language interpreter nearly twenty years ago after completing the American Sign Language program at the Governor Baxter School for the Deaf in Falmouth, Maine. A member of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), he has earned the RID Certificate of Interpretation and the RID Certificate of Transliteration. Jim is currently an interpreter for Deaf students at Virginia Tech. After coming to Virginia Tech as an interpreter, he trained to be a C-PrintT Captionist and has been both interpreting and captioning for deaf and hard of hearing students at Virginia Tech since that time. Jim also maintains the Services for Students with Disabilities website as well as the C-PrintT laptop computers for SSD.
