Instructions for Using Accommodation Letters

NOTE: Accommodation letters must be requested each semester through the SSD office.

1. After picking up your accommodation letters from the SSD office, make an appointment during office hours with each instructor to deliver your letters and discuss your accommodation needs. It is very important that you do not try to give them the letters before or after class!

2. Discuss with your professors what your strengths and weaknesses are and how you think the accommodations will help you in the classroom. You do not have to disclose what your disability is. However, this disclosure often opens the door for professors to ask questions and for you to educate the professor about a particular disability.

3. Make sure you sign each accommodation letter. The professor will keep the accommodation letter in a confidential file in their office.

4. Sign & Date the "Accommodation Agreement" form at the top. As you give each professor an accommodation letter, have him/her sign & date the form. After all professors have signed it, you should keep the form until the semester is completed in case there is a problem.

5. Questions, concerns, classes not going well, problems with professors accommodating you? Please contact an SSD Coordinator (Susan Angle or Connie Wilkinson) by phone or e-mail to discuss your situation.

Now that you have read these instructions you may Request Your Accommodation Letters.
